Navigating Philanthropy Through Community: Compass Community Story Part 2

When you pick up a compass, you’re likely seeking direction; a new or better path to get you to your destination. This was the inspiration behind the name of Foundant’s online community.

In 2020, the world changed. Our previously set courses were altered and, in some cases, no longer made sense at all. As a tech company serving the philanthropic community, Foundant has always recognized our responsibility in elevating and supporting this sector. When Covid hit and the world shut down, our team responded by changing course and launching our online community, Compass, much earlier than planned. 

We recognized that providing a convenient space for year-round collaboration and networking was the right thing to do. After all, community through the philanthropic sector is what our company was built on and it was time to give back to that community with one of our own.

It is clear by the interactions in Compass so far that our community members enjoy sharing examples, procedures, and product tips. There are some excellent discussions around specific scenarios your organizations are addressing, including what has worked and what hasn’t. The average response time to questions and discussions is less than 24 hours...you are eager to help one another and guide each other to new and better solutions! It’s inspiring to witness.

Compass is an inclusive community for anyone working in, volunteering with, or supporting the philanthropic sector. We have the ability to create subgroups where people from the same geographic or funding area can gather to help one another and share information. And we’re excited to see what the next evolution of this sharing platform will bring as we move into the uncharted waters of post-pandemic philanthropy.

With another year looming under restricted in-person opportunities to connect, we’re continually looking for ways we can help maintain or assist in creating new relationships to strengthen the philanthropic community and each of your organizations. For our current clients, we hope to convene special groups to solve for new software features or product ideas...taking our foundation of community full circle.
