Mike deHilster

Mike deHilster has worked for more than 15 years in the philanthropic space, including seven years as a grants and scholarships program officer at the Pasadena Community Foundation and five years at the Fletcher Jones Foundation, a private foundation that supports higher education. While in those roles, Mike prioritized forming good relationships with nonprofit grantees—working to problem-solve and support grantees through the grant process and beyond and looking for thoughtful, common-sense, and collaborative solutions to community problems. He moved to Foundant to extend this impact to the company’s clients as they work to make life better in their own communities. With a degree in French horn performance from the University of Alabama in hand, Mike also spent a brief time playing professionally around the southeastern U.S. and managing curriculum for Music Center, a nonprofit arts organization. Mike has lived all over the country and now resides with his wife, Addie, and cat, Moose (aka, the Mayor of Mischief Town), in Vancouver, Washington. Areas of expertise include: grant and scholarship best practices, small-staff community and private foundations, foundation/municipal partnerships, the arts sector, GLM/SLM/UA and CommunitySuite-integrated workflows.
