Cathy O'Brien
Cathy O’Brien is Foundant’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), leading the company’s Finance function and working closely with the CEO, leadership team, board of directors, investors, and potential investors. Prior to joining Foundant, Cathy held CFO and executive leadership roles in the software-as-a-service (SaaS) space, with global responsibility for healthcare and financial services companies. With over 30 years of experience in accounting and finance, Cathy has transformed multiple finance functions, standing up best-in-class organizations known for their dependability and accuracy. Cathy’s financial leadership roles have dovetailed with public service on several meaningful occasions. During her time with a video streaming company, she was able to play an integral role in bringing church services to homes across a wide array of faiths amid stay-at-home orders at the height of the pandemic and, later, maintain free streaming services for the people of Ukraine when their finances were inaccessible. While working with a medical supply distribution company, Cathy watched as the horrific events of the Boston Marathon bombing tested their SaaS systems’ capacity to successfully process supply orders to all area hospitals. Cathy looks forward to new challenges and the ability to provide leadership in meaningful work with Foundant and its philanthropic community. Cathy earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola Marymount University in California and is a certified public accountant (CPA). She resides and works remotely in Denver with her daughter and two Cobber fur babies (see: Australian Cobberdog) and enjoys spending her free time with family, friends, and puppies…even better if they can do it while hiking!
